Tigerstelling: G35 Fourier bunker

This ‘Fourier’ bunker is a ‘Bekleidungskammer’ (‘Dressing Room’); a very rare bunker that we rarely come across. This specific type XXL VAR has not yet been found in other defences in the Netherlands. Usually it is being dug open especially for Bunkerdag.

Wassermann bunker

The Germans built a bunker on the highest dune on the island for a radar. A radar system (the ‘Wassermann’) was to be installed on top of the bunker, constructed from a steel cylinder, approximately 40 meters high.

Bunkermuseum Schlei

Between the bunkers in the Goetlijfpark you will find re-enacmtent of the 2nd Kompanie Gebirgsjäger Regiment 100. They show how the originally Austrian Gebirgsjägers lived.

Valkenburg Airport

The Valkenburg Airfield History Foundation (SHVV) has converted the telephone exchange at the former Valkenburg Naval Air Base into a visitor center. The above-ground bunker dates from the Cold War (1982).

Stutzpunkt Groede

When soldiers of the Canadian 7th Infantry liberated Groede and the surrounding area on October 25th 1944, they were surprised to find a well-camouflaged German bunker ‘village’, part of the Atlantic Wall, just outside the village itself. It appears to be an ordinary village with streets and houses, but in reality it is the regional headquarters and ‘Stützpunkt’ Groede.

The Widerstandsnest 53 formed the northwestern entrance (Sperre) to the Festung Hoek van Holland. The three bunkers that you can visit are: Barracks bunker 501, Artillery bunker 676 and a Kitchen bunker.

Bunkermuseum Ameland

The bunker museum on Ameland can be found in the dunes to the west of the lighthouse in Hollum. In here, artworks, special finds, performances, stories, and images are shown.

National Monument Oranjehotel

The Oranjehotel is the nickname for the Scheveningen prison during Second World War. Between 1940-1945, the German occupier held more than 25,000 people here for interrogation and trial: resistance members, but also Jews, communists and Jehovah’s Witnesses. The complex was already called ‘Oranjehotel’ during the war.

Telephone bunker R616 – Alkmaar

In the center of Alkmaar, you will find this Telephone Bunker R616 with partially original equipment and an exhibition about the history of Alkmaar during World War II.
