There are only two bunkers of this type in the entire Atlantic Wall. These two imposing bunkers are located in the dunes near the “De Zandloper” beach access in Julianadorp. They were never in operation: the war had already ended before the bunkers were completed. The bunker on the north side is open to visitors. The bunkers consist of two floors. You can see a huge round shaft where the artillery would have been mounted. The ammunition would then have been brought up through this shaft. These bunkers were part of Battery Zanddijk, a complex containing multiple bunkers. The enthusiastic volunteers at the M219 museum will tell you more about these bunkers.
