Anyone driving along the Hoeverweg (N512) from Alkmaar to Egmond aan Zee will pass a Bunker Village halfway along the route, which is located on the left side of the road when viewed directly from Alkmaar. This bunker complex was built during the Second World War by the German occupiers and served as an anti-aircraft position and southern defense for Bergen Airfield.
