Near the boulevard of Kijkduin, under the dunes, is a hidden tunnel system; a part of the Widerstandsnest 67 HL complex. The main section of this once huge complex was unfortunately demolished to make way for the current shopping centre and nearby apartments but in the dunes behind the NH Atlantic Hotel approximately one hundred meters of tunnel and the four bunkers it connects still remain. This part of the complex housed the Flugwache,part of the German airforce, whose function it was to detect enemy aircraft.
The Atlantic Wall Museum Scheveningen Foundation has made access to the tunnels and bunkers possible once again.
