This command bunker of type 117a is nicknamed “wing bunker” or “whale bunker.” This name is derived from the large stabilizing piece built onto the bunker, which has the specific shape of a whale tail or airplane tail.

Please note: The bunker is difficult to access. To gain access, visitors must be able to crawl through a window that protrudes approximately 80 cm above ground level.

This bunkercomplex was built during World War II by the German occupiers as a defensive point for the former Bergen airfield used by them. The complex is located south of the airfield, and currently, 13 structures remain.
