Bunkers often had very practical applications. This also applies to this type 134 kitchen bunker, in which meals were prepared for the troops. What makes this one special is that one of the rooms is equipped with smoke ducts (chimneys) in the wall. Just as a number of other bunkers here in Dishoek, this specimen has also been war-damaged. This was probably mainly due to heavy-calibre navy artillery from the Erebus ship during the battle that raged here on November 2nd and 3rd in 1944.
