Kazerne Haerlem, built in 1880 – 1881, was a complete bombproof barracks with sanitary facilities, kitchen, bedrooms etc. The premises offered safe shelter to over 300 men. The soldiers, non-commissioned officers and officers of the coastal battery on Front I-II slept and stayed here. During Bunker Day, the film ‘De Verborgen Grens’ (The Hidden Border) will be shown there and it is the starting point of the walk. In the cellar, you can see the interior of a soldier’s room from around 1900.
