Group shelter type P is a Dutch military structure. It was built in 1940, just before the outbreak of the war. The group shelter doesn’t have any firing ports, except for an access defense port. A group shelter accommodated 8 to 10 soldiers.
The group shelters are constructed according to a standardized design and have a square floor plan of 7.20 (L) x 5.70 (W) and 4.64 (H) meters. The entrance is located at the back. The connecting passage leads to a waiting room for 13 soldiers. There was also a firing port overlooking the entrance of the casemate. The walls are 1.20 meters thick, and the roof is even 2.15 meters thick. Pipes are placed in the concrete for ventilation, a telephone connection, and a periscope. However, the periscope was never installed in this casemate.
