This ‘Fourier’ bunker is a ‘Bekleidungskammer’ (‘Dressing Room’); a very rare bunker that we rarely come across. This specific type XXL VAR has not yet been found in other defences in the Netherlands. It is being dug open especially for Bunkerdag.
The bunker is a ‘Bekleidungskammer’. Soldiers could get new uniforms and equipment here and have uniforms made or repaired. The QM who was responsible for these tasks also lived in the bunker. The bunker has no less than 5 rooms, each with its own function. The first room was for the QM – a place to relax. It still has homely decorations on the wall and there was once a heater in it. The second room served as storage space for the uniforms and other materials. Uniforms and equipment awaiting repair would have probably been arranged in the third room. The ‘Fourier’ and his staff slept in the fourth room. The last space served as a fitting room and partially as storage.
This bunker will disappear under the sand once more after Bunkerdag.
