With the Escape Game, visitors, young and old, can get under the skin of the Engelandvaarders. In the game, which you play on a tablet, you become a member of a resistance group that helps an Engelandvaarder achieve his goal. A Morse code device also teaches you how people communicated with each other in those days.
The museum wants to inspire everyone to make a choice that is relevant in every age of threat and tension: against indifference and for resistance against what is really impossible, because freedom cannot be taken for granted. A choice that the Engelandvaarders also faced. Bearing in mind the words of the most famous Soldier of Orange: Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema ‘There are moments in every person’s life when he says to himself: ‘Well, this is not possible’. And then you do something.”
The collection and audiovisual presentations take you back to the time of the Engelandvaarders. Their personal stories share their experiences and take you on their escape routes. In addition to presenting the collection, the museum also functions as a knowledge centre, with a database in which information can be consulted about all individual Engelandvaarders.
