This comic tells the story of how World War II unfolded in Zeeland. It begins with the mobilization in 1939 and ends with the liberation of Haamstede in 1945. It covers the German invasion, the arrival (and retreat) of the French, and the burning of Middelburg in 1940. It highlights forced labor and the construction of the Atlantic Wall. The flooding of Tholen and Schouwen-Duiveland is depicted, along with the resistance and the bombings of Westkapelle and Breskens. Much attention is given to the bloody Battle of the Scheldt.
