In the village of Borssele lies a refuge mound, originally a moth castle called "Mountain of Troje." This location was used as a defensive structure for centuries. During the Second World War, the Germans built two brick bunkers into the mound. Around the mound are three other barracks, one of which has a widened entrance and can be used as a hospital bunker. The headquarters of an artillery unit was located in this area.
The entire area is a protected archaeological monument.
Amateur radio operators will also be present during Bunker Day. Volunteers from the Zeeland Bunker Preservation Foundation will welcome visitors.
